OUR HISTORY

The adidas TERREX MaXi-Race has been built up over several years and is constantly evolving. This mural traces the key moments in the history of the Race.

Our Race its history, but also its values: we are a supportive event, an inclusive event, and an eco-responsible event.

2011

Birth of the MaXi-Race and start of the partnership with Tecnica

The tour of the lake through the mountains is back after having existed a few years ago. It is thanks to around fifteen enthusiasts from the MaXi-Team association that the Race revived. The first edition will therefore take place at the end of May 2011.

Start of collaboration with local associations.we support local associations in the Annecy area who volunteer their time at the event. In exchange for their valuable help, we provide them with financial support for their projects throughout the year.

Start of partnership with Tecnica.Tecnica becomes the first major partner of the MaXi-Race. It is thanks to their confidence in the project from the very beginning that the Race been able to exist. A partnership with a local company is formed.

2013

Races canceled due to bad weather

All races have been canceled due to snowfall in Annecy and the surrounding mountains. With the safety of runners being a priority, the decision has been made not to start the races.

2015

Hosting the Trail Running World Championships

For the first time, the MaXi-Race is hosting a federal event. The organizers were keen to build bridges between the federal and private sectors. After all, it is primarily clubs, and therefore indirectly federations, that keep the sport alive.

2017

Start of partnership with Salomon

Salomon becomes a partner of the MaXi-Race. This is yet another partnership with a local company, as their headquarters are located in Annecy.

2019

Hosting a round of the Race World Cup

After 2015, the organization once again wanted to include a federal event in the program. The Quart de tOur course will be the route for the first round of the 2019 Race World Cup.

2020

Start of partnership with Greenweez

Greenweez is becoming a partner of the MaXi-Race and will lend its name to the event for three years: it will be called the Greenweez MaXi-Race. Once again, a partnership with a local company is being established.

2021

Launch of inclusive initiatives

Sport should be accessible to everyone and can be a means of rehabilitation. That's why we have made it easier Race amputee athletes, people in wheelchairs, and people who have experienced trauma and for whom sport has been a means of recovery to take part in the Race . Since 2021, we have welcomed the Salomon parateam, Joëlette users, and war wounded from the 27th BCA...

2022

Hosting the European Masters Championship

Following on from the 2015 World Championships and the 2019 World Cup round, organizing the European Master Trail Championships is a way for us to enable all generations to compete. These championships took place in La Féclaz in the Bauges Regional Nature Park.

2023

Hosting the U18 Race World Cup

Young people are the future of trail running, and they too need competition and challenges to progress. With this in mind, we wanted to hold an international competition alongside the MaXi-Race to showcase their talents and help them develop.

2024

Hosting the European Off-Road Championships

With a view to bringing together elite athletes and everyday runners, we wanted to organize the European Trail Running Championships and Race on the same weekend as the MaXi-Race. This meant that everyone could enjoy the event in their own way while sharing the same values.

2025

Start of partnership with adidas TERREX

adidas TERREX becomes the naming partner of the MaXi-Race. Their European headquarters are in Annecy, so the partnership is once again with a local player.

2026

Change in the direction of the course

The tour of the lake will run in the opposite direction to previous editions, i.e., clockwise. This decision is the result of several factors observed in recent editions, including changing weather conditions (high temperatures, thunderstorms, etc.). The idea is to have shaded areas during the hottest part of the day and areas that are easier to secure at the end of the day, when storms are more likely, while retaining the iconic sections of the race with views of Mont Blanc, the lake and the mountains at sunrise and sunset.

For all races, the last mountain to climb will be Semnoz, offering 360° views (Mont Blanc range, Tournette, Lake Bourget, etc.).
