Carbon reduction between 2019 and 2029

The MaXi team didn't wait to take action!

Since 2019, the organization has decided, without any external pressure, to implement a 10-year plan to reduce the event's carbon emissions by 40%.

Not by imposing restrictions on runners (means of transportation, carbon offsetting, etc.), but through a strong gesture by the organization: a drastic 30% reduction in the number of participants.

For Stéphane Agnoli, founder of the Tour du Lac d'Annecy par les Montagnes, " it's up to the organizers to take the risks (financial and logistical) associated with carbon reduction, not the runners to find ways to get a Bib. Of course, it's important that runners also make an effort, but it has to come from their own desire, not because they're obligated to."

In addition to this, a number of organizational changes are being implemented to take things further (use of electric cars and cargo bikes by the organization, increased use of buses for relays and assistance, and promotion of bicycle assistance). The aim is to achieve a 40% reduction by 2029 compared to 2019.
